Abstract
Characteristics and interannual change of snowfall in Dandong from 1911 to 2012 was studied by time and amount recorded in text materials.It is found that the interval between the first and last date of snowfall was averagely 94.7 d with 12.0 snowy days and total annual snowfall 29.6 mm.The annual snowfall has remarkably decreased since 1956.The snowfall in the first decade of the 21st century was 36.5% less than that in the 1990s.The interval between the first and last date of snowfall after the 1980s was 33.1% less than the average data.The correlation coefficient between annual snowfall and heavy snowy days is 0.77 and 64% of the annual snowfall is contributed by heavy snow.
