Analysis on the Indica-Compatibility of Indica-Japonica Lines in Rice (Oryza sativa L.)

Abstract

The F1 fertility of four different type's indicajaponica lines (IJLs) was analysed using indica varieties and indica photothermosensitive genetic male sterile (PTGMS) lines as testers. The results showed that the indica-compatibility of four IJLs was higher than check 02428, and the F1 pollen and spikelet fertility of four IJLs was normal or nearly normal. When crossed with PTGMS alone, the four IJLs also showed normal or nearly normal pollen and spikelet fertility, The results indicated that these IJLs had the ability to restore fertility to PTGMS, so they could be used in twoline hybrid's breeding of rice.
