Abstract
In the present paper, 11 species of the genus Thampoa are described and illustrated, of which one species is reported for the first time from China, one is transfered from the genus Typhlocyba as a new combination and 9 are new to science. One species, Thampoa guttata Hu et Kuoh syn.n., is identified as a new synonym of Edwardsiana ishidai (Matsumura,1932). A key to all the known species of the genus is given. The type specimens are deposited in the Collection of the Entomological Museum, Northwest Sci Tech. University of Agriculture and Forestry in Yangling, Shaanxi. The genus Thampoa was established by Mahmood in 1967 only with the type species Thampoa dansaiensis Mahmood (Mahmood,1967). One new species Thampoa guttata was reported by Hu et Kuoh (1991), which is identified as a new synonym of Edwardsiana ishidai (Matsumura,1932) by the present authors. The other valid species was reported as Typhlocyba arborella by ZHANG Ya\|Lin et CHOU Io (1988). Up to now, there are only two known species as far as the present authors have learned. The present paper is a taxonomic study of the genus Thampoa Mahmood , in which all the species are keyed and listed, one species is reported for the first time from China and 9 new species are described and illustrated. Moreover, one species, Typhlocyba arborella Zhang et Chou,is switched to this genus as a new combination Thampoa arborella (Zhang et Chou,1988). All the specimens studied are deposited in the Collection of the Entomological Museum, Northwest Sci Tech University of Agriculture and Forestry. Type species: Thampoa dansaiensis Mahmood Distribution: China(Yunnan,Hunan,Hainan), Thailand and adjoining areas.Key to species (♂) 1.
