Chinese medicine mask in treating acne of 40 Cases

Abstract
Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect of the Chinese medicine mask in treating acne. Methods The51 patients with acne,aged 15- 30 years old,were randomized into 2 groups. The 40 in treatment group were treated with the Chinese medicine mask for external use,in the first 5 days one dose per day,then once every other day,taken before sleeping,with general nursing and taboos. The 11 in control group were treated with general nursing and taboos. Treatment course was of 30 days. The scores of skin lesions and symptoms in both groups before and after treatment were compared and the untoward reactions were observed. Results The total effective rate of the treatment group and the control group was 90% and 27. 3% respectively. The effect of the treatment group was superior to the control group( P 0. 01).After 30 days treatment,the total score in both groups was lowered( P 0. 01 or P 0. 05). And the total score in treatment group was significantly different with that in the control group at the same time( P 0. 01). The therapeutic index of the treatment group was superior to the control group( P 0. 01). There was no significant difference in the comparison of therapeutic index among the different grades in the treatment group( P 0. 05). Conclusion The Chinese medicine mask has effective in treating acne among people 15- 30 years old.
