Abstract
Objective To understand health literacy among rural and urban residents in Inner Mongolia.Methods The questionnaire which was developed by Chinese Centre For Health Education was used and trained investigators implemented the door-to-door survey.Results The awareness rates of health knowledge among rural and urban residents in Inner Mongolia were statistically different(P0.05).86.42% of urban residents and 62.19% of rural residents answered correctly about balanced diet,and 48.30% of urban residents and 20.64% of rural residents knew weight control.With regard to some knowledge points,both rural and urban residents showed low awareness rate.For instance,five physical examinations during pregnancy were understood by 27.07% of urban residents and 23.08% of rural residents.Conclusion There was statistical difference in health literacy related konwledge among rural and urban residents.Relevant health education should be enhanced,especially for rural residents,in order to abridge the gap.
