Abstract
As an important enlightenment thinker in neoteric China, Yan Fu advocated transforming the whole nationality by education and saving the country by creating a superior race. He revealed that it was the essential way for high-class race and prosperous country to strengthen the people's constitution and think highly of PE, and he inaugurated a new era of physical culture in China. This paper studies Yan Fu's conception of PE and its significance from the angle of enlightenment.
