Abstract

Under the constraint of single flood control water level during flood seasons, reservoir operating results in waste of valuable flood resources.Taking the Three Gorges Reservoir for an example, the daily discharge data in flood seasons from 1882 to 2005 years is used for this research. Then cause analysis and statistic analysis method are applied to divide flood seasons into three stags and the segmented design floods are deduced. Finally, flood routing method is adopted to calculate variation range of dynamic flood control water level with considering annual flood statistical characteristics, which enhances the utilization ratio of water resources.
