Abstract
Objective The aim of the research was to provide basis for preventing chromium damage from soybean in early stage.Method Soybean seeds were treated with different concentrations of chromium to study the effect of chromium on seed germination rate and germination potential and seedling growth of Soybean.Result As the concentration of Cr6+ increased from 0 to 5 mg/L,the germination rate was increased from 91.44 % to 92.59 % and the germination potential was increased from 89.13 % to 89.54 % resp.As the concentration of Cr6+ increased from 10 mg/L to 160 mg/L,the germination rate and the germination potential reduced to 74.94 % and 73.64 % respectively. The root length, bud length and biomass of soybean treated with chromium were slightly increased than that of CK.Cr6+ at the concentration of 15 mg/L inhibited the growth of soybean seedling and the inhibition effect was gradually strengthened with the increasing of chromium concentration. When the concentration of Cr6+ reached 100 mg/L,the root length and bud length was 28.61 % and 31.33 % of that in CK resp. The inhibition effect of Cr6+ on the growth of soybean radicle was more than that on bud growth. Conclusion Chromium treatment had stimulation effect at lower concentrations and inhibition effect at high concentrations on seed germination and seedling growth of soybean. And chromium at the concentration of less than 10 mg/L had a promotion effect on seed germination and seedling growth of soybean.
