Abstract

Objective To assess the prevalence rate of hyperuricemia and its risk factors among residents in Ouhai district,Wenzhou. Methods A cluster random sampling was performed to select 1520 permanent residents aged over 35 years from two communities in Ouhai district for this cross-sectional study.SPSS 13.0 software was used to analyze the data of questionnaires, physical examination and laboratory testing. Results Prevalence rate of hyperuricemia of residents in Ouhai was 7.6% totally, with male 10.4% and female 5.3%(χ2=13.94,P0.01).Non-conditional Logistic regression analysis showed that male, obesity, central obesity, hypertension, hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia were the major risk factors of hyperuricemia. Conclusions With a middle level prevalence rate of hyperuricemia and various influential factors in Ouhai district, the comprehensive measures should be taken to prevent and control it to reduce the incidence rate.
