Abstract

Shi is a institution which spring up in Zhou Dynasty, it is a designation which renders to some one according to his achievement during lifetime. The character appellation with Shi is very universal in ZUO ZHUAN, whether with Shi in character title or not reflects author’s taste on some one, at the same time, it also mirrors some social conception at that time.
