On Shi Tong's widening the research field of Zuo Zhuan study in the Tang Dynasty

The appearance of Liu Zhiji's Shi Tong had an echo-making significance in the history of Chinese historiography.It not only made a summary of the historical records in the past,but also provided guiding principles for later historiographers,which showed his sagacity on historiography.He valued Zuo Zhuan greatly and regarded it as the foundation of his historical theory.Besides,he fully revealed its historiography value and invovled its literary value.Although his viewpoints were not widely approved at the time,they objectively widened the Zuo Zhuan study in the Tang Dynasty and occupied an important position in the history of Zuo Zhuan study.
