A study of the relationship between variations of blood platelet parameters and prognosis in patients with acute pancreatitis

Abstract

Objective To study the relationship between the changes of platelet parameters and clinical severity and prognosis of pancreatitis Method Data including plasma PLT, MPV and PDW from 152 cases with pancreatitis were analyzed retrospectively and 30 healthy persons were studied as control Result PLT values were much less, whereas, MPV and PDW values were much higher before the treatment than after the treatment in the severe acute pancreatitis group(SAP) (P0 01), so were the result in SAP group than in the control group(P 0 01). Conclusion The results indicated that the changes of blood platelet were definitely relative to the severity and prognosis of acute pancreatitis Increase of PLT value and decrease of MPV and PDW values implied improvement of the prognosis of pancreatitis
