Abstract

Objective To explore the rehabilitation nursing in treating vascular dementia(VaD).Methods From March 2009 to March 2011,48 VaD patients in the Department of Orthopaedics of No.13 people's Hospital of Chongqin were randomly divided into control group(N=25) and observation group(N=23).The two groups received the traditional therapy and nursing,and the observation group received the additional rehabilitation nursing.mini-mental state examination(MMSE),activities of daily living(ADL) and functional activities questionnaire(FAQ) were used to assess the patients of both groups on admission and 2 months after nursing intervention.Then the comparative analyses were performed between them.Results After the rehabilitation nursing intervention,the MMSE score was significantly higher in the observation group than that in the control group(P0.05),while FAQ and ADL scores were significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group(P0.05).Conclusion Rehabilitation nursing intervention can increase their self-care abilities of living,prolong the VaD condition development and elevate their social activity capability,thereby contributing to the patients' early rehabilitation.
