The expression and relationship of PTEN and HER-2/neu in the tissue of ovarian cancer

Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of PTEN and HER-2/neu protein in ovarian carcinoma and their relationship.Methods The expression of PTEN and HER-2neu protein in 158 cases of epithelial ovarian carcinoma,20 cases of benign ovarian cystoadenoma and 20 cases of normal ovarian tissue were detected by S-P immunohistochemical method.Results In the normal ovarian and benign ovarian tumor tissue,the positive rate of PTEN protein(90%,80%) were higher than those in ovarian cancer tissue(34.18%).The over expression of Her-2/neu in epithelial ovarian carcinoma was higher than that in benign ovarian tumors.(P﹤0.01).The positive rates of PTEN and HER-2/neu were closely correlated with levels of histological differentiation and clinical pathology stages.Conclusions The PTEN protein expression flaw and over expression of HER-2/neu may result in the cell proliferation out of regulation,and related with occurrence and development of ovarian cancer.
