Abstract

AIM: To compare the therapeutic effects between terbinafine and miconazole in treatment of dermatomycoses. METHODS: One hundred and ninety patients (M 102, F 88, age 35±s 10 a) with dermatomycoses were randomly divided into terbinafine groups and miconazole group, of which 60 patients were assigned to terbinafine group, 60 to miconazole group and 70 to terbinafine open study group. They were administered topically with terbinafine or miconazole creams twice per day for 14 d. The drug effects were evaluated after the treatment. RESULTS: The therapeuic effects of terbinafine and the clearance of fungi were markedly better than those of miconazole group (P0.01). CONCLUSIONS: Terbinafine is rather effective and safe in the treatment of dermatomycoses.
