Abstract
Methyl lautrate was synthesized from lauric acid and methanol in the present of CePW12O40 catalyst. The influence of catalyst dosage, reaction time, catalyst recycling on the esterification of lauric acid and methanol was investigated under the condition of reaction temperature 67 ℃ and molar ratio of lauric acid to methanol 1∶ 15.The experimental results showed that the catalyst exhibited good catalytic activity after recrystallization and recycling many times, and lauric acid coversion of above 97.0% was attained under the optimum expermental condition as follows: catalyst dosage 7% of lauric acid mass and reaction time 4 h.
