Abstract

The effects of different burning rate regulators on the thermal behavior of RDX/AP HTPB propellant were studied. The results show the relationship between the effect of the burning rate regulator on the burning rate and that on the thermal behavior of RDX/AP/HTPB propellant is close. The decomposition peak temperature of RDX and AP is decreased, and the first decomposition stage of RDX/AP/HTPB propellant releases more heat, at the same time the number of the decomposition exothermic peak increases because of the affect of CuGr 2O 4 and carbon fiber, so the burning rates of propellant increase. The decomposition peak temperature of RDX becomes higher and the first stage decomposition heat of RDX/AP/HTPB propellant reduces at the effect of the combustion inhibitor (ammonium oxalate), accordingly, the burning rate of propellant containing the combustion inhibitor is lower.
