Abstract
Through centrifugal model test and triaxial test,the relation between soil consolidation degree and shear strength was studied.The test results showed that shear strengths increase with the increase of consolidation degree,with linear dependence in accordance with previous experience;the values of c,φ increase with the increase of consolidation degree,but the increments gradually decrease nonlinearly.And may be simulated by a hyperbolic function.On the basis of this research,a new simple method is proposed to estimate the increase of soil consolidation degree and strength in the process of soil mass consolidation by using the data of measured settlements.
