Abstract

[Objective] To detect the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor C(VEGF-C)and its receptor,VEGF receptor(VEGFR-3)in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC),and investigate its significance.[Methods]The expression of VEGF-C and VEGFR-3 on tumor tissues from 46 ESCC patients and 25 non-cancer tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry.[Results]The positive frequency of VEGF-C and VEGFR-3 in ESCC were 70.3%(23/46)and 76%(23/46).The expression of those in non-cancer were 20%(5/25)and 10%(1/25).There was statistical significance between cancer and non-cancer(P﹤0.05).The expression of VEGF-C and VEGFR-3 on tumor tissues was closely related to the lymph node metastasis and the depth of tumor invasion(P﹤0.05),and was not related to the degree of differentiation of tissue.[Conclusion]The expression of VEGF-C and VEGFR-3 is closely associated with development and lymph metastasis of ESCC.
