Abstract
【Objective】To investigate the effect of resveratrol on proliferation and apoptosis of MDA-MB-231 cells. 【Methods】MTT assay was used to detect the effect of resveratrol on proliferation. Apoptosis was analyzed by morphology and flow cytometry. 【Results】Resveratrol inhibited proliferation of MDA-MB-231 cells in a time-dependent and concentration-dependent manner ranging from 25 to 200 μmol/L (P 0.01). Treatment with 0, 12.5, 25, 50,100,200μmol/L resveratrol for 12h resulted in the increase of apoptotic percentage from 3.53%±0.25% to 10.86% ±0.29% , 17.36% ±1.20% , 28.80% ±1.34% , 38.78% ±1.19% and 58.96 ±1.26% (P 0.01).When treatment with 100μmol/L resveratrol for 12h, 24h and 48h, the apoptotic percentage was increased from 38.78%±1.19% to 70.32% ±0.99% (P 0.01). Fluorescence microscopy showed typical morphological changes after treatment with resveratrol. 【Conclusion】Resveratrol inhibited proliferation of MDA-MB-231 cells and induced apoptosis in time-dependent and concentration-dependent manners.
