Abstract
Objective: Fiberoptic bronchoscopy was applied to elder patients with respiratory system diseases in order to make early diagnosis and treatment Methods: To use routine fiberoptic bronchoscopy to observe patient's larynx, trachea, bronchus and then take a biopsy Results: In 1408 cases that received fiberoptic bronchoscopic examination, bronchogenic carcinoma was found in 377, chronic bronchitis was found in 330, laryngitis was found in 156, neoplasm of larynx was found in 149, vocal cord palsy was found in 104 62 of 1408 cases failed to demonstrate any lesion bronchoscopically Conclusion: Fiberoptic bronchoscopy is an important and effective means of detecting laryngeal and tracheobronchial lesions in aged patients, and is an important method of diagnosing bronchogenic carcinoma
