Abstract

The esterification of acetic acid with cyclohexanol using diphenylamine methylsulfonate as the catalyst was studied. The effect of different factors such as reaction time, the dosage of catalyst, the ratio of acetic acid to cyclohexanol and the amount of water-carrying agent on the yield of cyclohexyl acetate were investigated. The experiment results show that the optimal reaction conditions are as follows, when the amount of acetic acid was 0.1 mol,the ratio of cyclohexanol to acetic acid was 1.3,the dosage of catalyst was 0.5 g(about 2 mmol),cyclohexane as the water-carrying agent was 8 mL,reaction for 30 min,the yield of cyclohexyl acetate reached 96.4 %.The catalyst keep high capability after reused for five times. The product was characterized by refractive index and IR.
