Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression and role of p-AKT and PTEN protein and their clinicopathological significance in human papillary thyroid carcinoma. Methods The expression of p-AKT and PTEN protein was detected in 40 cases of papillary thyroid carcinoma and 20 cases of normal tissues by PV-6001/6002 two-step immunohistochemistry. The correlations between p-AKT and PTEN protein expression, and the relationship between their expressions and the clinicopathological features were analyzed. Results The expression of p-AKT in papillary thyroid carcinoma was significantly higher than that in normal tissues(P0.01),while the expression of PTEN protein in papillary thyroid carcinoma was significantly lower than that in normal tissues(P0.01).Expression of p-AKT and PTEN protein showed significant difference with different TNM stage, serous membrane invasion and lymph node metastasis(P 0.05).Expression of p-AKT and PTEN protein showed no significant difference with different patients′ age and different carcinoma diameter(P0.05).The expression of p-AKT was negatively correlated with the expression of PTEN protein(r=-0.325,P0.05).Conclusion The expression of p-AKT and PTEN may be correlated with the carcinogenesis and development of thyroid carcinoma.Detecting the expression of p-AKT and PTEN protein would be of great clinical significance to evaluate malignant degree and prognosis of papillary thyroid carcinoma.
