Abstract
Objective: To study the correlated factors of the tumor recurrence after the meningioma removal. Methods: The clinical, CT and pathological data of 24 recurrence and 122 primary meningiomas were studied. Among them, FCM data of the tumor tissues of 66 cases were analysed. Results: The correlated factors of tumor recurrence may be as follows: the grade of tumors' resection, the appearance of the nuclear pleomorphism, the focal necrosis, the brain infiltration, the increased vascularity found in the pathological examination, and hypodiploidy, the high DI and PI on the FCM analysis. These factors were all correlated with the tumor recurrence significantly. If the tumors margin was nodular or mushroom-shaped and severe peritumoral edema on CT, the tumor had a tendency of recurrence. Conclusions: If the tumor was partially resected, or the tumor was nodular or mushroom-shaped and accompanied by severe peritumoral edema on CT, or appeared active growth on the pathological and FCM examination, the tumor usually had the tendency of recurrence.
