Abstract
Objective To determine the depressive and anxiety symptoms in patients with type 2 diabetes and to investigate the effects of diabetes education and psychological intervention on these symptoms. Method Self rating Anxiety Scale(SAS) and self rating Depressive Scale(SDS) were administered to 62 patients with type 2 diabetes and 30 normal controls,and the patients were assessed again after receiving diabetes education and psychological intervention. Results The scores of SAS and SDS in diabetes group were significantly higher than those in normal group.After diabetes education and psychological intervention,mood symptoms and glucose metabolism were significantly improved. Conclusion Anxiety symptoms and depressive symptoms were commonly accompanied in type 2 diabetes patients,and diabetes education and psychological intervention can improve mood symptoms and glucose metabolism.
