Abstract
A scale inhibitor of polyaspartic acid (PASP) was prepared from the thermal polycondensation of maleic anhydride and ammonium salt. The optimum reaction conditions for the synthesis of PASP were determined by means of orthogonal experimental design, and the polymer was verified by IR spectrum. The effects of Ca2+ concentration, scale inhibitor concentration as well as water bath temperature on scale inhibiting performance were studied. The results showed: Polyaspartic acid has very good scale inhibiting performance and is a low energy-consuming scale inhibitor, while both water bath temperature and Ca2+ concentration have effects on the scale inhibiting efficiency.
