Abstract
Objective To evaluate the application value of using the high sensitivity c-reactive protein(hs-CRP) and urinary tract infection information(UTI-Info) in diagnosis of urinary tract infection(UTI).Methods 380 urine specimens from suspected UTI patients were cultured for bacterial identification.UF-1000i automated urine analyzer was used to detect white blood cell count(WBC) and bacterial count(BACT).AU2700 automatic biochemistry analyzer was used to detect hs-CRP in venous blood.Bacterial cell count was used as standard for the evaluation of sensitivity, specificity and diagnostic accordance rate of hs-CRP,UTI-Info and hs-CRP+UTI-Info.Results Except the contaminated samples,102 out of 360 samples(28.3%) were positive for bacterial growth. The sensitivity, specificity and diagnostic accordance rate of hs-CRP in the diagnosis of UTI were 85.3%,70.9% and 75.0%,respectively.The sensitivity, specificity and diagnostic accordance rate of UTI-Info in the diagnosis of UTI were 76.5%,84.5% and 82.2%,respectively.The sensitivity, specificity and diagnostic accordance rate of hs-CRP+UTI-Info in the diagnosis of UTI were 70.6%,97.3% and 89.7%,respectively.Conclusion The combination of hsCRP and UTI-Info can be used for the fast and specific diagnosis of UTI.
