Abstract

Objective: To observe the effects of Carvedilol and Valsartan on plasma Brain Natriuretic Peptide(BNP) and left Ventricular remodeling in patients with cardiac heart failure after myocardial infarction. Methods: 69 cases with chronic heart failure after myocardial infarction were randomly divided into group A(n=35) and group B(n=34).Both groups were given same routine treatment, group A was added to carvedilol and group B was given Valsartan.Brain Natriuretic Pepeide(BNP) were determined by radio-immunization before and after treatment.24 weeks later, changes of the left Ventricular remodeling and cardiac function were investigated by color Ultrasound cardiogram. Results: Total effective rate was 90.1% in group A and 90.7% in group B,but no significant difference between two groups(P0.05).After treatment the indexes of cardiac remodeling and cardiac function improved significantly in both groups(P0.01),and BNP level decreased significantly compared with those before treatment(P0.01).Conclusion: Carvedilol and Valsartan can reduce plasma BNP level and improve cardiac function in patients with cardiac heart failure after myocardial infarction.
