Abstract
Objective To observe the association of vitamin D(25-OH-D3) with pancreatic β-cell first-phase secretion function and insulin resistance(IR) in newly diagnosed young or middle-aged male patients with diabetes. Methods Serum 25-OH-D3,insulin and diabetic hemoglobin were measured by electrochemiluminescence method in 56 patients with diabetes at the first visit and 38 health men served as controls, and,at the same time,aL-ARG-insulin stimulation test was conducted.ResultsThe level of 25-OH-D3,HOMA-β and insulin of the sixth minute of L-ARG-insulin stimulation test in the patients were lower than that in the control(t=2.910-7.170,P0.05),and TG,FSG,HbA1c,HOMA-IR and fasting insulin were higher(t=-12.215——3.853,P0.01).FSB levels were affected by both serum 25-OH-D3 and a family history of diabetes(F=4.632,4.269;P0.05),but there was no interaction among them(F=1.32,P0.05).25-OH-D3 was negatively correlated with HbA1C,BMI and HOMA-IR,and positively correlated with the multiple of the peak level of insulin secretion in the L-ARG-Insulin stimulation test and HOMA-β after adjusting BMI(r=0.225,P0.05).Conclusion Deficiency of serum 25-OH-D3,which,in some extent, influences insulin resistance and early-phase insulin secretion,is generally seen in young or middle-aged males.A supplement of 25-OH-D3 may become one of the means for precaution and treatment of diabetes.
