Abstract

Objective:To study the morbidity and characteristic of depression in patients with hypertension.Methods:The 63 aged patients with hypertension(hypertension group)and 51 aged patients without hypertension(control group)were detected by Hamilton rating scale for depression(HAMD)and compared between two groups.Results:The morbidity of depression occupied 42.9% in hypertension group and 15.7% in control group.The morbidity of moderate-heavy depression occupied 17.4% in hypertension group and 3.9% in control group.The somatisation,somnipathy,feeling of despair and cognitive handicap were characteristic of depression in aged patients with hypertension.Conclusion:The morbidity of depression is high in aged patients with hypertension,it influence quality of life,confidence and prognoses of patient.
