Abstract
In order to overcome the shortcoming of ignoring the influence of pile diameters for settlement calculation of pile foundations, based on Mindlin displacement solution, according to the suppose of Geddes stress solution,an analytical expression of settlement for pile foundations under vertical load was strictly deduced considering the influence of pile diameter.During the duduction the circle was divided into some parts,so the analytical expression was carried out by numerical integration method.Thenumerical integration solution was applicable to the settlement calculation for pile groups whose pile spacing was large, piles were distributed irregularly and pile lengthes were inequable, single pile and piles with enlarge base.It was shown by calculations of engineering cases that the analytical solution was reliable to be used to calculate the settlement in engineering projects.
