Abstract
Objective To apply the technique of in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer (IVF-ET) to infertility treatment and discuss the effect of embryo culture system and female age on treatment outcomes. Methods 208 infertile couples were accepted. Oocytes were collected from females with controlled ovarian stimulation. Sperms were collected from husbands by density gradient centrifugation. After in vitro fertilization, embryos were transferred into uteruses. The effect of embryo culture system and female age on treatment outcomes were discussed. Results 2097 oocytes were collected in 220 cycles, the oocyte number per cycle was 9.53±5.61. The fertilization rate was 72.21%, the cleavage rate 94.4%, the fine embryo rate 67.43%. Clinical pregnancy was achieved in 96 cycles. The pregnancy rate was 43.64%. Among which, the twin embryos rate was 36.46%, the abortion rate 13.54%. Conclusions The technique of IVF-ET is an efficient method for infertility treatment. The pregnancy rate can be increased by improving the embryo culture system and embryo quality. The pregnancy rate decreases in female over 35.
