TACE for patients with renal carcinoma and the influence on cell immune function

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of TACE and its significance on cell immune function in the patients with renal carcinoma.Methods The peripheral lymphocyte subsets levels of CD3+,CD4+,CD8+,CD4+/CD8+ and NK were detected before treatment and 2 and 4 weeks after TACE in 29 male patients with renal carcinoma(range,60-76 years).Results CD3+,CD4+,CD4+/CD8+ and NK levels decreased,and CD8+ level increased 2 weeks after TACE(P0.01) compared with those before treatment.4 weeks after TACE,CD4+ levelascended(P0.01),but no obvious differences were observed in CD3+,CD4+/CD8+,CD8+ levels(P0.05) compared with those before treatment.The lymphocyte subsets levels had significant differences between 2 weeks and 4 weeks(P0.01).The symptoms of hematuria and flank pain were relieved and gradually disappeared with the tumors′ shrinkage.The mean maximum diameter of the tumors was reduced by 3.025±1.184 9 cm 30-40 days after treatment and was significantly smaller than that before treatment(12.335±2.072 cm,P0.01).Conclusion TACE was safe and effective for renal carcinoma.However,it may inhibit body immune functions in a short period,so immune enhancement should be emphasized at the same time.
