The Evolution and Contribution of the Legends of the Tang Dynasty in the History of Chinese Literature

From the perspective of the historical evolution of Chinese literature,this paper tries to reinspect and explain the evolution and contributions that the legends of the Tang Dynasty had been made in the history of Chinese literature.It thinks that the legends of the Tang Dynasty has syncretized the merits of various literary styles in the past and led to the rhetorical in composition,which forms a new literary style that ranks high among all sorts of articles.Accordingly,Chinese novels have been composed intentionally from the middle Tang Dynasty.Moreover,the outstanding performance in thoughts and arts that the legend has achieved put it as a symbol of Tang literature besides Tang poems.It not only sets various new paradigms for ancient classical Chinese short stories,but also establishes a right orientation and principles in the development of Chinese narrative literature,including pursuing artistic trueness with image and fabrication,and bringing positive and far-reaching influences in later ages.
