Abstract
Objective To detect the levels of interleukin-18(IL-18)and high sensitivity C reactive protein(hs-CRP)in 112 patients with stable angina pectoris(SAP)and 182 patients with acute coronary syndrome(ACS),and to investigate its clinical significance in coronary artery disease. Methods 112 SAP patients(SAP group),182 ACS patients(ACS group)and 90 healthy controls(healthy control group)were enrolled in the study.Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)was applied to detecting the serum level of IL-18,and latex-enhanced immunoturbidimetry was employed to measure the serum level of hs-CRP.Results The serum levels of IL-18 and hs-CRP in SAP group and ACS group were significantly higher than those in healthy control group, especially in ACS group, the levels of IL-18 and hs-CRP was markedly higher than those in SAP group. There was a positive correlation between IL-18 and hs-CRP in SAP group and ACS group(P0.01).Conclusion IL-18 and hs-CRP are associated with the occurrence and development of ACS,which may be used as monitoring indices of atherosclerotic plaque stability. They play an important role in the differential diagnosis of SAP and ACS.
