Abstract
Objective To assess the efficiency and clinical value of transcatheter arterial embolization in the management of acute or refractory traumatic massive hemorrhage in the craniofacial region. Methods Of the thirty-two patients with trauma,twenty-eight patients had hemorrhage of bouche, nose and ear caused by basicraniel fracture, the other 4 had hemorrhage of bouche and nose by craniofacial fracture.Hemorrhagic vessel and areaes were confirmed with arteriography, and transcatheter arterial embolization was prepformed, the efficiency was evaluated. Results All 32 patients stopped bleeding after transcatheter arterial embolization,no severe complication appeared. Conclusion Transcatheter arterial embolization of acute or refractory traumatic hemorrhage in craniofacial region is effective and safe, and should be regarded as the first choice of treatment.
