Abstract

Objective To compare the positive rate of bacterial culture in patients with cholelithiasis, and to survey their antibiotic sensitivity. Methods Automatic microbial detection system was applied to detect the spectrum of bile pathogen and their drug sensitivities in 61 cholelithiasis patients who underwent ERCP during January to August in 2008.Result The positive rate of bacterial culture was 68.8%.Among them, gram-positive organisms accounted for 85.7%,gram-negative organisms accounted for 11.9%,and fungus was cultured in one case1(2.4%).Patients with cholangitis had a higher rate of positive cultures(P0.05).Age greater than 60 years had a significant influence on the rate of positive bile cultures(P0.05).The result of drug susceptibility showed that gram-negative strains were sensitive to the third-generation cephalosporin, meropenem, and amikacin. Conclusions Among patients with common bile duct stones, there was an increasing percentage of positive culture according to the severity of the disease.Age had an important influence, but the number of the bile duct stones had no influence on positive cultures. The main pathogen in patients with cholelithiasis was gram-negative.
