Abstract
Objective To study the clinical and pathological characteristics of synovial sarcoma of the abdominal wall (SSAW) and improve its diagnosis and treament.Methods The clinical and pathological characteristics of one patient with synovial sarcoma of the abdominal wall were presented and related literatures were reviewed. Its pathological and immunohistochemical characteristics and the key elements of its diagnosis were analysed.Results Calcification was often found within the synovial sarcoma of the abdominal wall on radiograph. Pathological examination could find some biphasic differentiation characteristics. Immunohistochemical stains were positive for Vimentin, Keratin and EMA to a certain degree.Conclusion Synovial sarcoma of the abodominal wall is a kind of soft tissue sarcoma with biphasic differentiation characteristics and It is very easy to be misdiagnosed because of its special location.
