Analysis on the Positive Ethical Function of Social Security in China

Researches on the function of social security in the academic field in our country have been based on the perspective of economics, sociology, political science and law. These four subjects consider social security as justice in the allocation and compensation mechanism, harmonious society mechanism, fundamental human rights protection mechanism and the realization of the civil rights mechanism. This paper is another way, attempting to elaborate the concept of social security can promote the personal and social ethics. At the individual level, the mutual aid of social security calls the mutual love of the members of our society.Responsibility system strengthens social members' sense of responsibility. Caring for vulnerable groups helps social members to spread humanitarian spirit. The education and training of social security can enhance social members' moral quality. At the social level, social security can create a social environment where individual dignity and value can be respected and promote social fairness.In addition, social security can promote the whole society's ethical progress through the education of all social members. However,China's current social security system has many constraints which influence its moral function. Therefore, we should establish and perfect the social security system's ethical mechanism, in order to facilitate social security ethical function.
