Abstract

Objective:To determine the protective effects of Ulinastatin on lung ischemia-reperfusion injury. Method: Ischemia-reperfusion injury of lung model were established in thirty-two New Zealand rabbits, the rabbits were divided into four groups: Ⅰ group (control group, n=8), Ⅱgroup(doses of UTI of 6 kIU/kg 30 min before ischemia,n=8), Ⅲgroup(doses of UTI of 12 KIU/kg 30 min before ischemia,n=8), Ⅳgroup(doses of UTI of 12 kIU/kg 30 min before ischemia and during reperfusion,n=8). Blood samples were taken from left and right atrium before ischemia and 30 min after reperfusion for determination of white blood count. lung tissue MDA contents were measured and lung biopsies were obtained. Result:Compared with Ⅰ group, in Ⅲ and Ⅳ group , white cell ratio of right atrium to left atrium was significantly lower; Ratio of wet/dry and lung tissue MDA contents were lower; the pathological change was less. But there was no significant difference between Ⅰ and Ⅱgroup in lung tissue MDA contents. Conclusion: Ulinastatin provides significant protective effects on ischemia- reperfusion injury of the lung.
