Abstract
To increase the flexibility of the product design,the adaptable design is effectively integrated with the concept of product family.On the basis of analyzing the existing product platforms,the parametric and modular product platforms were unified into a product platform based on design parameter,and a new design method of adaptability-oriented flexible product platform was presented.The axiomatic design theory was utilized as framework to zigzaging mapping between functional requirements and design parameters and design matrix was established.The sensitivity analysis among design parameters and between design parameters and functional requirements was done.Then the design incidence matrix was established and relation degree among design parameters was analyzed.The diversity of design parameters for variety products was calculated,and the platform parameters and variety parameters were identified.Finally,an example of flexible product configuration for overhead traveling crane was used to demonstrate the feasibility and practical value of the proposed method.
