Abstract

The decrease in leaf area per berry led to lower average berry weight, coloration and °Brix in kyoho grapevines. The proper leaf area for berry growth and development in the shoots of single clusters and double clusters were 70~100cm~2 and 40~60cm~2 per berry respectively. The nutrient for berry growth was mainly supplied by photosynthetic products from the same lateral leaves with the clusters. The leaf area per berry was related positively to berry weight and °Birx.
