Abstract
Objective To detect haemostatic property of a new compound material made of chitosan and collagen I from porcine tendon.?Methods The model of bleeding trauma was made by 1cm×1cm wound on the ear of New Zealand Rabbit including to cutting off an ear artery, and by resection of 1cm×1cm block on the liver, patching the wound with sponge we made, gelatin sponge and gauze, the haemostatic effect and time of degradation of sporige were recorded.?Results The haemostatic time of chitosan collagen I sponge was 2 min, and gelatin sponge was 3.5 min, and gauze was 10 min. Both the chitosan collagen I and gelatin sponge could be degraded in vivo.?Conclusion The haemostatic result of chitosan collagen I sponge is better than that of gelatin sponge and gauze . The chitosan collagen I sponge can also be degraded in vivo. So, it is an ideal haemostatic material.
