Factor analysis of malocclusion of 2098 university students

Objective To investigate the situation and factors of malocclusion which happens among the university students in Shanxi province.Methods 2098 students were examined under the natural light by the method of Luo Song Jiao.Results The rate of malocclusion was 78.12 %when the ideal normal occlusion was treated as the criterion.The rate of Angle Class I malocclusion was highest( 51.3 %).The rate of malocclusion of female was higher than that of male.There was no difference in the rate of malocclusion between rural and urban,family background and financial situation.Crowding and deep overbite were more than other malocclusion.Most of the patients were not fully conscious of their malocclusion and had less intention for treatment.Conclusion There are many factors associated with malocclusion.It's key to have the students propagandized and educated,diagnosed and treated earlier who have the malocclusion.
