Abstract
Objective To understand AIDS related knowledge, attitude, practice, and requirements among Chinese residents in urban and rural communities by community based surveys in Kunming of Yunnan Province and Zi-zhong County of Sichuan Province. Methods Statistic analysis of non-Parametric test and logistic. Results ①The rate of knowledge about the three main transmitting routes of AIDS was from 88.1% to 90.8%,but the knowledge about non-transmissible routes was much lower.②Rural residents were more willing to help those who had been infected with HIV,although they had stronger fear for AIDS than rural residents.③As to the knowledge about the three main transmitting routes of AIDS,there were statistically significant differences among residents with different education levels and occupations.④AIDS related KAPR were influenced by education, age, income and control measures adopted by the the communities. Conclusion Community-based education and intervention should be strengthened and greater efforts be made to control the spread of AIDS in comunities.
