The effective observation and study of glaucoma valve implantation for refractory glaucoma

Objective To evaluate the effect of glaucoma valve implantation for refractory glaucoma.Methods 32 patients underwent glaucoma valve implantation were summarized retrospectively in our hospital from April 2007 to August 2011,and to observe the visual acuity,intraocular pressure,postoperative complications and the effective rate.Results The postoperative visual acuities were stable in 12 eyes,dropped in 4 eyes,improved 16 eyes.Before the operation,the intraocular pressure was 28～67 mmHg,the average intraocular pressure was(44.3±8.9) mmHg and after the operation,the intraocular pressure was 7.5～23.8 mmHg,the average intraocular pressure was(15.2±3.7) mmHg.The common postoperative complications included early postoperative shallow anterior chamber,early postoperative high intraocular pressure and anterior chamber bleeding,the success rate was 82%.Conclusion Glaucoma valve implantation is an effective method for refractory glaucoma,surgical skills can reduce postoperative complications and improve the success rate of operation.
