Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the application of early enteral nutrition support in aged patients with gastric cancer after operation. Methods: Forty aged patients with gastric cancer and accepted surgery were randomly divided into two groups: parenteral nutrition group(group PN),and parenteral nutrition plus early enteral nutrition group(group PN-EN).Complication incidence, time needed for intestinal function recovery were observed.Serum and urine parameter and nitrogen banlance were tested respectively. Results: The differeces of complication incidence, blood glucose and liver function between the two groups were not significant, but the intestinal function recovery time in PN-EN group was obviously shorter than that in PN group(P0.05).Serum albumin, prealbumin and transferrin of all the patients obviously increased after nutrition support(P0.05),and the negative nitrogen balance was corrected. Conclusions: Early enteral nutrition support in aged patients with gastric cancer after surgery can obviously improve patients' nutritional state, and reduce complication.Parenteral nutrition combined with early enteral nutrition meets pathophysiological requirement and is safe, effective and reasonable.
