Abstract
Objective To evaluate changes of total cholesterol (TC) , triglyeride (TG) , low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), fibrinogen (Fb), activated partial thromboplastin lime (APTT) and prothrombin time (PT) in patients with acute cerebral infarction and influence on neurological functional deficit scales after atorvastatin treatment. Methods Eighty-six patients with acute cerebral infarction diagnosed by head CT were randomly divided into 2 groups, the control group with conventional therapy and the treatment group received atorvastatin once a day with the dosage of 40 mg for 3 months. Results The levels of TC, TG, LDL-C and Fb were lower and the levels of APTT, PT and HDL-C were higher in the atorvastatin treatment group than before treatment and in the control group. There was no difference between before treatment and after in the control group ( P 0. 05 ). There was no difference in neurological functional deficit scales between the 2 groups before treatment. But after 3 months, the scales decreased in both 2 groups ( both P 0. 01) , and there was difference between the 2 groups (P 0. 01). Conclusions Atorvastatin therapy may be able to adjust the blood lipids metabolism effectively, promote restoratioin of brain cell function and improve nerve fuction.
