Relationship Between the Expressions of p53,PCNA and c-erbB-2 and Lymph-node Metastatic Status in Gastric Carcinoma

Abstract

Objective To investigate the relationship between the expressions of p53,PCNA,and c erbB 2 and the lymph node metastic status in gastric carcinoma.Methods lmmunohistochemical method was used to examine the expression of p53,PCNA,and c erbB 2 in 299 samples of gastric carcinoma.Results The positive expression rate of p53,PCNA,and c erbB 2 in gastric carcinoma with lymph node metastasis was 44.8%,71.7%,and 71.7%,respectively.In gastric carcinoma with no metastasis,it was 47.1%,78.2% and 47.1% respectively.Conclusion The expression of p53 and PCNA in gastric carcinoma is not associated with the lymph node metastic status( P 0.05),while the expression of c erbB 2 is closely correlated to the lymph node metastic status( P 0.0l),suggesting that the overexpression of c erbB 2 gene may be used as an important indicator to determine patients' prognosis.
