Study on City Function Position of Urumqi City and Approach

The city function position is of great value to city development,and is direction sign and the power supply of the urban development.In the new century,rested on the position and the superiority in Xinjiang and Central Asia region,Urumqi City put forward the goal of constructing modernization international trade center,and clear about the city function position in this foundation,namely metropolis in the Asian center,the international metropolis,famous city of the trade and tourism,livable city.This article applies the related theory of the city function position,based on the appraisal to Urumqi's realistic city function,analyses the disparity between the present development situation of Urumqi and the city function position,proposed that constructing livable city is important gambit of achieving the city function position and some countermeasure.
